As you may have seen in the news this month the Government will be adding a Sugar Levy to the sale of all soft drinks containing added sugar over a certain level. The aim is to reduce the overall consumption of sugar. Soft drink manufacturers are obliged to add this levy to their products, meaning retail prices would have to rise.
The popular Luscombe brand, which we serve here at The Pickle, has chosen to limit the levy's impact on prices by reducing the serving size of its 320ml bottle to 275ml. So over the next few weeks we will be phasing in the new size bottle and our prices will stay the same. However, there will be an increase in other brands which have decided to maintain their serving and size.
